Overview
TabVault is a browser extension that helps you save and restore browser tab sessions. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Data Collection
What We Collect
TabVault collects and stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Tab URLs and titles: To save and restore your sessions
- Tab group information: Group names, colors, and collapsed state
- Window positions: To restore window layouts (optional)
- Session metadata: Names, colors, tags, and timestamps you assign
What We Do NOT Collect
- Personal identification information
- Browsing history beyond saved sessions
- Cookies or login credentials
- Any data from the content of web pages
- Analytics or tracking data
Data Storage
All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API:
- Sessions and settings are stored in
chrome.storage.local - Data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it
- Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data
Third-Party Services
ExtensionPay
If you choose to upgrade to Pro, we use ExtensionPay for payment processing. ExtensionPay may collect:
- Email address (for account and receipt)
- Payment information (processed by Stripe)
ExtensionPay's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy at extensionpay.com/privacy
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties. The only data that leaves your device is:
- Payment information when upgrading to Pro (handled by ExtensionPay/Stripe)
- Data you explicitly export using the Export feature
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Export: Download all your data as a JSON file at any time
- Delete: Remove any session or all data through the extension
- Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes all stored data
Permissions Explained
TabVault requests the following permissions:
- storage: To save your sessions locally
- tabs: To read and create browser tabs
- tabGroups: To save and restore Chrome tab groups
These permissions are used solely for the stated functionality and nothing else.
Children's Privacy
TabVault is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
